A Change Of Appearance.

Acrylic paint on acrylic paper, A4.

These small practise pieces came about after a tutorial with the lovely Nina. I felt a lot happier then I usually would do after these one to ones, which was a really good feeling. There should be more moments like that in my life! Nina took a look at my work and said that there's an illustrative appearance about them, which was not news to me, there is still the chance that maybe I am on the wrong course haha! Although she did like my little owl, apparently she is a bit of an owl lover herself.

I had said that I didn't know where it was all going and that there was not much meaning it in anymore. She told me to focus less on the figure, by this she meant the eagle/owl images I had previously been creating and possibly try working in an abstract expressionist way for a few days, that way I should then know what I want. She said to take a look at Pollock, Kooning and Rothko, I knew of these artists already, but I enjoyed taking another peek at them. Admittedly, I'm not sure these paintings above are exactly 'abstract expressionist' looking though. The advice seemed to me to be helpful for once, I knew where to go from there and I wasn't left feeling like I had more questions than I started with. Thank you, Nina!
