Looking Good.

Looking more professional, once again thanks to Clive, bless him! Here’s the write up from the leaflet he created:

“Drawn Together Exhibition: The GPM Foundation is proud to spotlight new emerging talent that has come to their attention over the last year. We are excited to present the works of Roz Gooding, Jade Probitts and Clive Matthews.

These artists are the future of British Art today, they have been drawn together to collaborate in this small exhibition. Each artist has a clear identity and how they discern the world around them, which is revealed when one sees their work for the first time. We have therefore decided only to showcase their most recent work and to set them a challenge. The challenge is to produce in alliance a single central exhibit using found objects within the precincts of this establishment.

The Artists: Roz Gooding - Painter and Sculptor. ‘My work is inspired by the forest near my home; it is a landscape that I have grown up with. I am interested in personal nostalgic landscapes or spaces that we carry with us, to the point where they become part of the psyche: an internal, muthic landscape. In folklore and fairytale the forest is a place of initiation, a space where the unknown must be faced and overcome. I am drawn to the light, colours and atmosphere that I find there and how it transforms from day to night, and through the cycle of the seasons.’

Jade Probitts - Sculptor and Painter. ‘The abstract shapes in my work lead people to have different associations from either what they see or how they feel. Their personalities interpret the lines and colours as something the recognise; usually in some sort of anthropomorphic way. What I see in the pieces are not necessarily what the viewer will see and vice versa. The colours I have used may affect how appealing they are to the audience; someone may feel more towards one colour, whereas another person may recieve no meaning from it all.

The work is in a way a representation of me; expressing myself of how I understand the world.’

Clive Matthews - Painter. ‘I am a man of few words, I observe the phenomenoon of light and life, whilst endeavouring to record their energy and traces in paint.’”

So there you go. I hope that helps you to understand a little about the work we have created and about ourselves.
