I visited an artist called Graham Stewart at the weekend in St. Albans with Clive. We managed to have a look at his work, even a couple of pieces he did not have out on show, as well as a chat. He's a good guy who gave some great advice. It felt like the helpful tutorial I needed, seeing as I did not manage to have one that Friday (that is a whole other story).
The thing I remember most was, him saying something like,
you might make 10 paintings but only 2 of them are really good and that’s not a
bad ratio. In addition to that, you have to just get on with it, which I have
been struggling with. Graham kindly gave me one of his boards that he had
prepared to work on as a gift, along with some knowledge on colours to use and surfaces
to maybe try out.
I am undoubtedly in love with his Starscapes! They really
are a must-see; the images on his website do the work no justice. At the end, we
left with a couple of postcards and his ‘Shredded & Pulped’ book. Graham
said to keep in contact or if I needed help, email him.
Happy days!
