New Years Resolution
Hellooooo!
Ok, if you follow me on Facebook or Instagram you might know that at the beginning of this year I set myself the goal of doing something arty every day and I failed on the second day (come on - we knew that would happen!). I still kept "trying" when I could be bothered but found myself forcing it and it became something of a chore rather than what I used to love doing.
The past week has been a really good one and I have managed to balance making with my day job successfully. Don't get me wrong, I love my job, everyone who knows me knows that, still it is great to have something that helps you get away from all those worries and hopefully that people enjoy too.
So I am just going to keep trying and not make any promises art-wise because I never keep them...
Paha!

Giraffe
Giraffe
Giraffa camelopardalis
Least Concern
Native to: Africa
Size: Height 4.3 - 5.5 metres
Diet: Herbivore
Young: 1 calf
The second drawing in my set of zoo zine idea!
When I first drew it I felt the only positive about it was that you could tell it was supposed to be a giraffe. I always hate it when I take a drawing too far, I suppose I can sometimes learn from the bad points and hope that I don't do it again (but I usually do - haha). Fails like this make me miss being at university and having my own desk in my own studio space to work at!
A few people have said they liked this drawing, in fact more than my previous one of a siberian tiger, which I prefer so much more. I know I can do better! I may have to re-draw this one because I'm not too happy with it. So, if you like giraffes then keep an eye out for another attempt!
Ah well, at least I got some drawing practice, right?

I Can Read.
Hello everyone, once again it has been a while. Since my last post I
have moved back to university, survived over a week without internet and
worked on my plans a little for what I want to work on this year (which
is proving to be more difficult than I thought).
I have realised we rely a lot on the internet, too much in fact, without even realising it. We resorted to visiting the library more or less every other day to keep up with the outside world and get books. I didn't know it at the time, but it was a blessing in disguise. I had managed to start some reading, now the internet has come there has been minimal accomplished.
I suppose taking all these books out in the first place is an achievement in itself, I haven't done any 'arty farty' reading over the summer holidays like I should have (naughty me). Hopefully I'll get back into the swing of it before we start back next week, as well as getting ready for the making of some art. If I'm honest, I'm nervous about starting 2nd year... New people, new work load, new information to take in and I'm too easily distracted. How am I going to survive?!

Rubbish Day.
Today has been bleurgh. I have spent hours reading arty farty stuff
written by Donald Judd, Clement Greenburg and Michael Fried, to ‘help’
with my essay and guess what… I do not understand any of it. It has all
merged together and I am confused. I feel so stupid! How have I made it
this far in life?! This essay will be the death of me. Why did I not
learn from my last assignment and start it sooner? There is a week until
the deadline and I’m not feeling hopeful. We had a choice of 6
questions and I’m worried that I have chosen wrong. I thought I could
handle the one I picked, but now I’m not so sure. What to do? I suppose
I will just trundle on and hope for the best. What’s the worst that could
happen? Other than failing. At least I will have tried, right? I am so
tempted to change questions. I just don’t want people to be like “Oh,
she’s copied us… Blah, blah, blah!”, because a few others have changed
from a question that is much harder than the one I am attempting.
I just don’t want to fail.
I just don’t want to fail.
