Imaginary Factory

I have been thinking (again - I know that's all I ever do) about my presence on social media as creative outlets. Some of you may remember I used to be known as Mosely & Co. which I created in college as an imaginary factory. Near the start of this year for whatever reason I changed to Befriend A Whale; it made sense to me at the time.

Now that I have finished university and am out in the big wide world, even though that only consists of my house at the moment, I think I want to change back to my previous title. I feel it was a mistake to change it. I could simply use my name, I know that, but who doesn't want to be a little different. Different is good.

However, Facebook has this rule that you can only change the web address once, which I have done. This means that I'm either stuck with this label I have now or I have to start all over again. I have put a lot of work in to my Facebook page, over 3 and a half years in fact. A part of me doesn't want to get rid of that history; the documented journey of my creativity and the other half of me wants to make a new start. It would give me something to work towards whilst I attempt to find a job of some sort.

Mosely & Co. seems more professional and people might take me seriously. I really should make a decision before looking into opening an online shop, which is one of my many plans. I know it will take a lot of time and effort to get it out there and to gain likes; it could be worth it...

I want my imaginary factory back.

I would love to know what you good people think about all this - it would really help! Which brand appeals more to you? What should I do? Any advice?

Thank you in advance!

Lost Talent.

'I used to have talent...'

These are a series of drawings in a sketchbook that I did when I was at college. They were a part of my final major project called "Museum of Objects". We visited the Ipswich Museum a fews times, I loved that place, I could sit in there all day, just walking around, looking and drawing. I haven't been back for over a year and I think I miss it.

Look how good I used to be able to draw haha! I enjoyed drawing these, out of everything there, the most. I fell in love with the elephant skull. It's the most memorable object I have ever drawn. They remind me of the wonderful elephant skull etchings by Henry Moore, just not as great as them of course. It makes me happy to draw skulls, it used to be a big part of my work. Now a days, it takes me a while to get into something and recently I haven't finished much.

I've been trying to decide on what I could do for second year, work wise, at university and there are so many possibilities. I think about it a lot, which makes knowing what I want to do even more difficult. I found an unused square sketchbook in my desk and I was thinking I might fill it full of elephant skulliness... I'm not sure yet. It might mean I have to visit museums again, I prefer them to galleries. Maybe I'll work on all sorts of skulls and bones. Argh, I don't know. Hopefully I won't get bored of it, that tends to happen with me, if I even start it at all.

Rubbish Day.

Today has been bleurgh. I have spent hours reading arty farty stuff written by Donald Judd, Clement Greenburg and Michael Fried, to ‘help’ with my essay and guess what… I do not understand any of it. It has all merged together and I am confused. I feel so stupid! How have I made it this far in life?! This essay will be the death of me. Why did I not learn from my last assignment and start it sooner? There is a week until the deadline and I’m not feeling hopeful. We had a choice of 6 questions and I’m worried that I have chosen wrong. I thought I could handle the one I picked, but now I’m not so sure. What to do? I suppose I will just trundle on and hope for the best. What’s the worst that could happen? Other than failing. At least I will have tried, right? I am so tempted to change questions. I just don’t want people to be like “Oh, she’s copied us… Blah, blah, blah!”, because a few others have changed from a question that is much harder than the one I am attempting.

I just don’t want to fail.
